The most popular hashtags and requests in 2014
Two curious collections following the results of the outgoing year caught our eye: the bird brought Year 2014 on the tail (the most discussed hashtags were 2014), and the search engine Yandex found out what users were most looking for in the outgoing year.
So, what have we been discussing in the past twelve months? This is, first of all, the Olympic Games in Sochi (the dream of the girl Lyuba is wonderful and unforgettable), the World Cup in Brazil (oh, this victory of the German national team - still the heart stops!), The Oscar award (and the most famous Self of the year - still, when on one photo only stars of the first magnitude!), as well as a flash of Ebola.

However, for some items the selections are noticeably different. For example, Twitter users were more worried about the Ice Bucket Challenge (the most fun entertainment of the summer), Emma Watson’s bold statement about gender equality, the brave Malala Yusufzai, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the unexpected departure of Robbie Williams, as well as tweets Lady Gaga, Robert Downey Jr. and JK Rowling. While Yandex visitors tried to figure out when to switch the clock to winter time, they were rooting for Ukraine, worried about Zhanna Frisk, discussing the new season of the Game of Thrones and lost sleep after watching Eurovision, where the first place was taken Conchita Wurst.
