Weathercocks - English recipe for puff with jam

The famous British "tea at 5 o'clock" is not complete without home baking. For sweet "weatherguns" they use ready-made dough and purchased jam. But it is necessary to work a little bit all the same - it is a very unusual form of puff buns.

Preparation Procedure:

  1. Roll out the test into a rectangle of about 40x30 cm.
  2. Cut the rectangle into equal squares.
  3. Using a small sharp knife, cut the corners of one square by 2 cm to form 2 “petals”.
  4. Bend one petal to the center of the square and press it well. The result is a product in the form of a weather vane.
  5. Just arrange all the blanks.
  6. Lubricate the vials with egg white and sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Put in the middle puffs for 0.5 tsp. preserves.
  8. Transfer the vanes to a greased baking sheet and bake in the oven for 13 minutes at + 200 ° C.

Puffs are served warm or completely cooled, sprinkled with powdered sugar. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, wrapped in wax paper and put in an airtight container.

Triangles - Puff with American Jam

This recipe is exceptionally simple - it can be used if you need to bake something quickly for a sudden arrival of guests. For cooking you will need:

  • puff pastry - 0.5 kg;
  • jam - 300 g;
  • egg - 1 pc .;
  • vegetable oil - 1 tbsp .;
  • brown sugar - 3 tbsp.

For a puff, any thick jam or jam is suitable - apricot, raspberry, strawberry.

Stages of work:

  1. Roll out the dough into a 1 cm thick rectangle and cut into 8 equal pieces.
  2. On each billet put 1 tsp. preserves.
  3. Connect the 2 opposite corners of the rectangle so that a triangle is formed. Carefully pinch from all sides.
  4. Make another 7 triangles in this way.
  5. Beat the egg.
  6. Place the puffs on a greased baking sheet, brush with egg.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes at a temperature of + 180 ° C.
  8. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with brown sugar.

The triangles are served to the table only when they are cold, because the jam inside is very hot.
